Governance of climate funding: E-learning course training workshops Gn. Fuvahmulah

“I realised how large a sector climate change [adaptation and mitigation] is and that there are a lot of people investing [money] and involved in this. I did not know before that so much work is being done by this many people and organisations,” explains Afa, one of the participants of the workshop on climate finance governance held by Transparency Maldives in partnership with the Gn. branch of Maldivian Red Crescent.

The self-guided course introduced the participants to the world of climate finance and governance and will allow the participants to network and exchange ideas among and within countries.

A total of 14 MRC volunteers participated in this workshop held on 20 May 2017 in Fuvahmulah, successfully completing an online course developed by Transparency International with the purpose of spreading awareness of corruption risks in climate finance.

A second training was conducted, on 25th May 2017 for members of Gn.Volunteers, an NGO from the island. 15 youth participated in the one day training.

The trainings resulted in increasing the capacity of youth and active volunteers in the community to monitor and hold accountable climate related projects in their community.
